Endeavour's Rendezvous With Space Station Slated Early Wednesday

In the Space Station Processing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, processing of the node 3, named Tranquility, nears completion. The Tranquility node of the International Space Station is shown with its cupola and hatch covered last December in the Space Station Processing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center. Also known as Node 3, the Tranquility node is being transported to the station this week on the space shuttle Endeavour and will be installed on the station during mission STS-130. The STS-130 crew spent its first full day in space inspecting space shuttle Endeavour’s thermal protection system, checking out spacesuits and making preparations for docking with the International Space Station. The crew is scheduled to begin rendezvous operations to dock with the station shortly after midnight Wednesday. Endeavour launched early Sunday morning from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the last nighttime launch of the space shuttle program.
